What Mercury Does

Mercury is VIS42’s communications specialist. It manages the professional correspondence layer of your business — so overdue invoices get chased, upcoming deadlines get flagged, and your suppliers and customers stay informed without you lifting a finger. Mercury’s role: notifications, reminders, follow-ups, and message drafting. Mercury’s channels: Email, in-app, mobile push, Slack, Microsoft Teams.

Capabilities

Payment Reminders

Send escalating reminders to customers with overdue invoices — friendly, then firm, then urgent.

Deadline Tracking

Query upcoming receivable and payable due dates over 7, 14, or 30-day horizons.

Follow-Up Sequences

Run automated collection workflows on overdue invoices without manual intervention.

Draft Communications

Compose professional emails and letters for your review before sending.

Multi-Channel Notifications

Dispatch messages across email, Slack, Teams, in-app, and push simultaneously.

Example: Payment Reminder Sequence

A typical Mercury-managed collection workflow:
  1. T-3 days — Friendly reminder: “Your invoice is due in 3 days”
  2. T+0 (due date) — Confirmation: “Payment due today”
  3. T+7 — Firm reminder: “Your invoice is now 7 days overdue”
  4. T+14 — Urgent: “Please contact us to resolve this outstanding balance”
  5. T+30 — Escalation draft: Mercury prepares a formal demand letter for your review
Mercury adapts tone automatically based on how many days overdue the invoice is. You can override the tone for any message before it sends.

Invoking Mercury

Talk to Mercury directly in the VIS42 app or via an MCP-connected AI client:
  • “Send a payment reminder to all invoices overdue by more than 14 days”
  • “What invoices are due in the next 7 days?”
  • “Draft a follow-up email to Acme Corp for invoice INV-2026-042”
  • “Notify the finance team on Slack that three bills are due for approval”

Approval Mode

When approval mode is on, Mercury drafts messages and presents them to you before sending. This is the default for new accounts. To allow Mercury to send autonomously (without per-message approval), turn off approval mode in Settings → Agents → Mercury.
In autonomous mode, Mercury sends messages immediately. Review your customer contact details and reminder templates carefully before enabling it.

Channel Configuration

To use Slack or Teams notifications, first connect the integration:
  • Slack: Settings → Integrations → Slack
  • Microsoft Teams: Settings → Integrations → Microsoft Teams
Once connected, you can ask Mercury to notify specific channels or users.
